To alleviate the crippling effects of poverty on children - including abuse, and child labor - by providing high-quality education permeated with tolerance and respect. Dosti schools are committed to serving all children, regardless of their social, religious, or ethnic backgrounds. Dosti school development involves all sectors of society, especially women, and fosters the growth of healthy, economically-sustainable communities.
Our Goals
- Alleviate the effects of poverty through education and literacy programs.
- Improve the quality of life for school children and their families by ensuring availability of clean water, adequate nutrition, and medical care.
- Support community-based economic development initiatives.
Our Objectives
- Establish and maintain high-quality schools in areas of significant need, following research-based “best practice” methods of childhood education.
- Encourage education and literacy development for girls and women.
- Support our teachers by providing decent salaries, ongoing training and educational opportunities, and by offering them the tools they need to help their children excel in the classroom and in the community.
- Facilitate development and maintenance of clean water supplies.
- Improve access to medical care, particularly maternal/child health programs.
- Foster growth of local efforts to build economic opportunities through micro-loan programs and other support mechanisms.
- Maintain effective and responsible vigilance in assuring that Dosti projects are properly benefiting from the funds given by our sponsors and donors.
- Strengthen connections with the global community of individuals and organizations dedicated to alleviating poverty, illiteracy, and child abuse.
- Increase public awareness of poverty, hardship, and lack of opportunity faced by children in the developing world.
