How to Help:
5 Ways You Can Help Dosti Today
- Host a House Party. Invite your friends and family to your home for dinner or for light refreshments, or coffee and desert. You provide the food and drink and good company and we’ll send you all the materials you need: invitations, flyers, and even our new short video about Dosti’s Educational programs (due out Feb. 06). Consider passing the hat or asking guests to log on to our site to make a secure online donation. Send a picture of your event and we’ll post it on our website!
- Organize a 'coffee hour' at your regular place of worship to raise awareness about the need for education programs in the developing world, especially Pakistan, and what Dosti is doing to help. If possible, ask for time during the weekly service to introduce the subject and invite people to attend your program. Have friends donate baked goods and either sell them, or ask for donations. Ask us for materials to support your effort.
- Make a presentation about Dosti at your local grade school. Ask students to come up with ideas on how they can help Dosti school kids and possibly adopting a classroom or a school. Kids usually have great ideas on raising funds for causes they care about. And kids care about other kids!
- Talk to your coworkers about adopting a Dosti classroom or school. Encourage people to 'brown-bag' their lunch or skip their afternoon coffee one day a month and donate the savings to Dosti. $50 a month can pay for an entire classroom or a one room school. We’ll post the picture of your office team on this website.
- Call Dosti today and find out about our other fundraising ideas! We’re organizing events all over the country in 06, spreading the word about the important work Dosti is doing. We’ve got photo exhibits, music, films to recommend, and a great cause to get people motivated to turn out for your event. Whether you want to talk to a small group, or hold a major fundraiser, we’re happy to help.
Please share your ideas with us as well, we’ll be happy to post them.
